Nevin Turk is a Principal Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. IFC is the largest global development institution focusing on the private sector. Nevin is the product lead for IFC’s Global Trade Supplier Finance (GTSF), which is a program providing financing for emerging market supply chains through partnerships with independent supply chain platforms or risk participations with banks. Since its launch in 2012, the GTSF program has disbursed over US$2.4 billion to emerging market suppliers for domestic and international supply chains in 12 countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Under the GTSF program, IFC implements differentiated pricing schemes linked to the Environmental &Social (E&S) rating of the emerging market suppliers to promote sustainability along the supply chains. IFC’s programs with a few global brands in the apparel and footwear sectors has helped the apparel industry better understand the benefits of financially incentivizing sustainable practices and is currently being replicated with other global corporates.
